The Key Benefits:
- Run directly
from lithium-ion battery power and thereby eliminate the need for
a voltage regulator
- Offer low
on-resistance and low-level logic control across the full 1.6-V to
4.3-V voltage range
- Capable of
switching both audio and low-voltage power in portable
applications
- Support
continuous currents up to 300 mA for Reed Relay replacement and
load switching
- Feature low
rDS(on) and low on-resistance flatness and matching
that enable a significant improvement in overall signal
fidelity
The Key Applications:
- Signal switching in
end products including cell phones, set-top boxes, PDAs, media
players, video games, audio systems, and medical and industrial
applications
- Load
switching in portable electronic systems
The News: Low-Voltage Analog Switch Family
Targets Portable Systems With Low On-Resistance, Direct Battery
Operation and Choice of Configuarations
Siliconix incorporated (NASDAQ: SILI), an 80.4%-owned
subsidiary of Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH), announces
the release of a new family of analog switches designed for direct
battery operation in portable applications.
- Built on Vishay
Siliconix’s low-voltage submicron CMOS process to provide
efficient performance across the voltage range typical of portable
electronic systems
- Provide
design flexibility with availability in multiple configurations —
double-pole/double-throw (DPDT), single-pole/double-throw (SPDT),
and single-pole/single-throw (SPST)
- Operate from
battery power without the need for an external voltage
regulator
- Offer
excellent overall signal fidelity for low-distortion audio
applications

The Perspective: The new DG27xx family of low-voltage
analog switches targets portable systems with key electrical
specifications including low on-resistance down to 0.45 ohms,
low-level logic control through the full voltage range of 1.6 V to
4.3 V, and current handling up to 300 mA for load switching
applications. With a variety of available configurations and direct
operation from a lithium-ion battery, these new switches offer
flexibility in the design of a broad range of compact
electronics.
Availability: Samples and production quantities of
the new analog switches are available now, with lead times of six to
eight weeks for larger orders.
