Engineering Data Sheet

The Engineering Data Sheet included in each package of Micro-Measurements precision strain gages provides pertinent product and technical information for the use of the gages in strain measurements.

Parameters

Type     Series , S-T-C number , pattern , and grid resistance of the strain gage as determined by the Micro-Measurements Gage Designation System .

Option    Any Optional Feature the gage contains.

Quantity    Number of uniaxial gages or rosettes contained in the package at the time it was shipped. Typically 5 per package.

Lot Number    Designation for a group of gages with grid elements from a common melt of strain-sensing alloy, subjected to the same mechanical and thermal processes during manufacturing.

Resistance    Statistical average and 2-Sigma (95% confidence) limits for the electrical resistance of the gage grids.

Gage Factor    Obtained through calibration of the specific gage type, the gage factor, GF , is:

where R o is the initial unstrained resistance of the gage. A measure of sensitivity of the gage to strain, the gage factor is reported as the statistical average with 2-Sigma (95% confidence) limits.

Transverse Sensitivity    Obtained through calibration, the transverse sensitivity factor, K t , relates the response of the gage grid to transverse and axial strains. The transverse sensitivity is given in percent, and includes the absolute uncertainty.

Code    An internal designation used by Micro-Measurements for identifying the gages in the package.
