Surface Preparation
|
This sequence covers general-purpose surface
preparation for strain gage installations.
Properly prepared surfaces help ensure the strong,
stable bonds required for transmission of surface
strains to the gage.
The bonding surface must be chemically clean and
free of paint, weldments, spalling and other defects
or contaminants. |
In addition to the proper
installation accessories
, five basic operations are required:
Degreasing
Abrading
Burnishing of Layout Lines
Conditioning
Neutralizing
The steps used in surface preparation are outlined
in Vishay Measurements Group Instruction Bulletin
B-129,
Surface Preparation for Strain Gage Bonding
.
