Tape Removal We are now ready to remove the tape from the bonded strain gage and terminal; this time it is important to fold it back directly over itself. Slowly and steadily, peel the tape from the specimen. 
Place a short piece of paper drafting tape over the exposed gage grid for protection. Position the tape so that 1/3 to 1/2 of the gage solder tabs are exposed. The gage is now ready for leadwire attachment.
