Please Note
For most materials, these properties can vary widely
with such parameters as temperature, humidity (in
nonmetallics), material formulation, processing, life
history, test method. grain direction. etc.
Therefore, the materials properties given here should
be considered, at best,
nominal
values. When data of greater accuracy and
reliability are required, these should be obtained
from the supplier of the material, or by performing
appropriate tests on specimens from the same lot of
material on which strain measurements are to be made.
Note in particular that thermal expansion is not
generally linear with temperature; and therefore each
tabular value of
is an
average
over some temperature range. The temperature ranges,
which include room temperature in every case, vary
with the source from which the data were
obtained. |
