Three-Element Rosette
Pattern

The typical "rectangular" rosette pattern
shown here has its three independent grids oriented
at 0, 45, and 90 degrees. "Delta" patterns,
with grids at 0, 60, and 120 degrees, are also
available. Planar rosettes, like the one shown here,
are constructed with all grids on the same plane.
Stacked rosettes are also available with separate
grids "stacked" on top of one another. With
three independent measurements about a point, the
principal strains and their directions can be
calculated. |
