Introducing BCcomponents' innovative 105 °C axial electrolytic capacitor for electronic lighting ballasts
June 21, 2000 — Following the highly successful launch of the 85 °C miniaturised axial electrolytic capacitor for lighting ballasts in 1999, BCcomponents has again raised the standard in 2000 with the introduction of the new 105 °C version of the 042/043 series, the AHH-ELB.
"Customers demand smaller products with higher ripple current capabilities and longer lifetimes,” explained Herman Brunen, marketing manager of BCcomponents' growing axial division. “The 105 °C axial electrolytic capacitor delivers the product specifications our customers need to develop the lighting applications of the future - today.”
Advances made in high gain foil and low ohmic / high volt electrolyte technologies have enabled BCcomponents to better address the needs of its expanding customer base. Building upon the advantages and performance of the 85 °C product range (reduced mounting height, high shock vibration capability) the new range, designed for use at a maximum ambient temperature of 105 °C, extends ballast lifetimes without requiring re-design of the circuit board. The 042/043 AHH-ELB effectively offers a plug-in product upgrade to all manufacturers of lighting ballasts.
The rated capacitance range is 6.8 to 33 μF at 450 V. Useful lifetime is in excess of 10,000 hours at 105 °C (100,000 hours at 85 °C), with a very high ripple current capability. The 042/043 AHH-ELB 105 °C series is supplied either loose in box, or taped-on-reel. Customised versions (pre-cut and formed for manual insertion) are available on request.
