These facts and others were noted by participants from Vishay Intertechnology,Inc. (NYSE: VSH), and other companies at CARTS-Europe 2000, held 16-20 October at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Brussels, Belgium. CARTS-Europe 2000 highlighted the rapid evolution of resistors, capacitors, magnetics, and other electronic "building blocks"used in virtually all products containing electronic circuits, from cell phones to computers to cars to medical equipment tosatellites. It brought together companies that design, manufacture, and market passive electronic components, as well as majororiginal-equipment manufacturers such as Agilent Technologies, Alcatel, DaimlerChrysler, Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia, Nortel, and Panasonic. The event included a market overview by Dennis Zogbi of the Paumanok Group, a forum on trends and new technologies, and symposium papers from a wide range of technical experts. Participation by Vishay included two seminars, six papers, and thekeynote address, presented by Glyndwr Smith, Assistant to the CEO and Senior Vice President. Vishay papers focused onpassive-component testing and use in the telecommunications, computer, automotive, and other industries. CARTS-Europe 2000 wascapped by a presentation on Vishay's Z201 ultra-precision foil resistor, which features a ten-fold improvement over standardfoil resistors in temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR), a key measurement of resistor performance. Vishay Presentations at CARTS-Europe 2000 Keynote Speech: About CARTS:CARTS-Europe is sponsored by Electronic Components Institute Internationale (ECII) Ltd., in cooperation with the InternationalMicroelectronics and Packaging Society (IMAPS) and Federation of the Electronics Industry (FEI).
