Vishay Offers Tip 'N Ring™: Chip Capacitors Optimized for Filtering on Tip and Ring Lines in Communications Circuits

MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - November 10, 2000 - A monolithic ceramic chip capacitor series specially designed for filtering in telephone line tip and ring applications is being offered by Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH). Available in space-saving, EIA-size cases, Vishay's new Tip 'N Ring™ family provides a surface-mount alternative to larger, leaded film capacitors that is optimized for the voltages used in communications networks and systems.

Tip 'N Ring devices are being offered in 1812 (VJ9427 and VJ9186), 1825 (VJ9174), and 2225 (VJ9253) surface-mount cases with a choice of 19 standard capacitance ratings ranging from 0.033 µF to 1 µF. Both 250-V and 300-V dc voltage ratings are available.

The Tip 'N Ring series combines space savings with wide band operation and excellent high-frequency filtering. Vishay Vitramon capacitors have long been known for quality and performance, and with this series designers get the added benefit of a chip built on Vishay's technology and MLCCs optimized for Tip and Ring applications.

The VJ9427, VJ9174, and VJ9253 feature an X7R dielectric with temperature coefficientof capacitance (TCC) of ±15% from -55°C to +125°C. The VJ9186 features a Z5U dielectric with TCC of +22%/-56% from +10°C to +85°C. Available capacitance tolerances are ±5%, ±10%, and ±20% for the X7R devices and ±20% for the Z5U device.

Samples and production quantities of the new Tip 'N Ring devices are available now, with lead times of up to 16 weeks for larger orders.
