BCcomponents takes miniaturization a step further with extension of MLV range

November 16, 2001 — BCcomponents is extending its popular range of varistors, already one of the most extensive on the market, with the launch of the new, smaller 0603 size Multilayer Varistor (MLV). This new MLV is designed for surge suppression applications and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection.

BCcomponents' surface mount MLV range is now available in the miniaturized 0603 package, in line with industry trends in the telecom and automotive markets, where smaller varistors are a requirement for inclusion in cellular phones and automobile safety and comfort systems. The new MLV is also ideal for use in a wide range of applications including consumer applications, such as sound/vision appliances and EDP applications, such as PCs and modems.

The MLV series (2322 573 1...., 2322 573 2....) boasts a wealth of features that provide benefits to customers such as enhanced circuit protection, by having very short response times and inherent bi-directional clamping, low capacitance value (60 to 390 µF) which provides low leakage current, and is suitable for wave or reflow soldering allowing flexibility to customers. The MLV is also compliant to IEC 1000-4-2 standards.
