(NYSE: VSH) today released a new series of wirewound resistors featuring radial terminals fitted with lock-in tips that ensure stability during assembly. The specially-designed terminals, combined with the devices' high-temperature coating, will help to increase circuit board reliability. The Vishay Dale CPS series of wirewound resistors is optimized for surge protection, voltage division, and motor control applications in a wide variety of consumer appliances and entertainment products - including dishwashers, clothes dryers, washing machines, televisions, and computer monitors. Three devices are currently included in the series, with sizes ranging from a 24-mm length and 15.2-mm spacing between the terminals (0.945" by 0.598"), to 44.5 mm with a 35.5-mm terminal-to-terminal spacing (1.752" by 1.398"). Each resistor features a high-temperature silicone encapsulation that enables operation under extreme temperatures ranging from -65°C to +350°C. Unique to Vishay's CPS series, the circuit board lock-in mounting tabs provide added security both in assembly and throughout the life of the product. Vishay's CPS series provides high-power solutions optimized for commercial use, with power rating options of 4 W (CPS 4), 5 W (CPS 5), and 6.5 W (CPS 7). The CPS 4, CPS 5, and CPS 7 devices can be used as cost-effective and lightweight replacements for the bulkier ceramic boat, CPR-style resistors-allowing system designers to streamline product design and manufacturing costs. Samples and production quantities of the CPS resistors are available now, with lead times of six to eight weeks for larger orders. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., a Fortune 1,000 Company listed on the NYSE (VSH), is one of the world's largest manufacturers of discrete semiconductors (diodes, rectifiers, transistors, and optoelectronics and selected ICs) and passive electronic components (resistors, capacitors, inductors, sensors, and transducers). These components are used in virtually all types of electronic devices and equipment, in the industrial, computing, automotive, consumer, telecommunications, military, aerospace, and medical markets. Its product innovations, successful acquisition strategy, and ability to provide "one-stop shop" service have made Vishay a global industry leader.
