MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - November 14, 2002 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH), a global leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components, held product demonstrations and launched new products at the electronica 2002 trade show, held November 12 through 15 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre in Munich, Germany. Several of these products were highlighted by Dr. Felix Zandman, Chairman and CEO of Vishay, at his November 12 electronica 2002 press conference.

Electronica is Europe's largest trade show devoted to components and assemblies in electronics. Attendees include senior management and other personnel from a wide range of companies in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Attendees from Vishay, in addition to Dr. Felix Zandman, include Dr. Gerald Paul, President and Chief Operating Officer; Erich Schädlich, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales; and Glyndwr Smith, Assistant to the CEO and Senior Vice President.

At his November 12 press conference, Dr. Zandman discussed Vishay product and Company news, including the November 11 announcement that Vishay has agreed to acquire BCcomponents Holdings B.V., a leading manufacturer of passive components. The product lines of BCcomponents include linear and non-linear resistors; ceramic, film and aluminum electrolytic capacitors; and switches and trimming potentiometers. Dr. Zandman has stated, "We are very excited about the opportunities presented by the acquisition of BCcomponents. The acquisition will reinforce Vishay's position as a leading manufacturer of passive components worldwide."

Vishay scheduled a series of 16 different product demonstrations at electronica 2002. These demonstrations at Vishay's booths illustrate product functionality and highlight key features and benefits:

1) Silicon-based RF capacitor: Demonstration of a 0.1 pF-180 pF, 1% tolerance, 0402 RF capacitor with capacitance stability from 1 MHz to several GHz (patent pending).

2) Power integrated circuits (ICs): Comparison of load step transient response (amplitude and duration) of Vishay Siliconix Si9175 vs. a competing IC.

3) Power MOSFETs: Comparison of efficiency and thermal performance in Vishay Siliconix MOSFETs vs. competing products in dc-to-dc applications.

4) Infrared data communications: Demonstration of wireless, 16-Mbit, two-way data transfer using Vishay Semiconductors infrared data communications device (IRDC).

5) Resistors: Comparison of temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) performance of Vishay WSL and WSK Power Metal Strip® resistors vs. a low-ohmic thick film resistor.

6) Resistors: Comparison of TCR performance of Vishay WSL-E Power Metal Strip resistor vs. a thin film chip resistor.

7) Resistors: Short time overload (STOL) demonstration that compares pulse-handling performance of Vishay WSL-E Power Metal Strip resistor vs. a thin film resistor chip.

8) Resistors: Comparison of thermal EMF of WSL Power Metal Strip resistor vs. another metal strip resistor.

9) Magnetics: Comparison of inductance stability, saturation current characteristics, temperature rise, and component size of Vishay Dale IHLP inductors vs. competing products.

10) Capacitors: Demonstration of how vibrations cause microphone (piezo-electric) effects in capacitors. Effects are displayed on an oscilloscope and heard on an attached speaker.

11) Strain gages: Demonstration of flat temperature compensation (TC). The thermally-induced apparent strains caused by changes in temperature in typical strain gages and specially designed Vishay strain gages are measured and displayed on a computer screen.

12) Instrumentation: Demonstration of turnkey data acquisition system. On an engine with rocker arms, dynamic signals produced by strain gages (measuring bending strain) and a linear displacement sensor (measuring displacement) are input to a System 6000 Strain Smart Data System and displayed in real-time.

13) PhotoStress®: Demonstration of how PhotoStress coatings and instruments optically reveal and measure stress in gears, driven by an electric motor, that drive a bending beam via a connecting rod.

14) Scale-On-Chip™ ASIC (Vishay Transducers booth): Demonstration of a single chip that combines all the electronic functions required by retail and industrial scales. A Cybratech evaluation kit uses a price computing scale and thermal printer to enable performance evaluation.

15) Strain gages (Vishay Micro-Measurements booth): Demonstration of a strain gage with flat temperature compensation versus a standard foil strain gage.

16) Instrumentation: An engine block with moving pistons is used to demonstrate the System 6100 data acquisition system.
