Vishay Semiconductors Announces Alliance with ObexCode

MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA — December 10, 2003 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced an alliance between its Infrared Data Communication (IRDC) and Sensors division, the leading supplier of infrared transceivers for the wireless communication market, and ObexCode AS, a leading provider of wireless infrared software solutions.

The alliance will give Vishay the ability to offer its customers a total solution for short-distance wireless communication, including infrared transceivers, encoder/ decoders and, now, the Infrared Data Association (IrDA) software protocol stacks.

OEMs are more frequently relying on Vishay to be their expert in implementing both the hardware and software aspects of infrared wireless communication. This expertise becomes even more of an advantage as the IrFM (Infrared Financial Messaging) Point and Pay profile is being adopted in Korea, Japan and other Asian and European countries. As a team, Vishay and ObexCode deliver the expertise OEMs need for successful IrDA and IrFM implementations.

ObexCode has a long history in the development of IrDA software.
