Vishay’s D2TO20 20-W Thick Film Power Resistors Feature Wide 0.010 Ω to 550 kΩ Resistance Range in Ultra-Compact TO-263 Package (D2PAK)
Devices are Non-Inductive With Standard Tolerances of ±1 % to ± 10 %
MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA — February 9, 2007 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today released a new family of 20 W thick film power resistors featuring a compact, easy-to-mount TO-263 package (D2PAK) and a broad range of resistance values.
The new D2TO20 thick film resistors are non-inductive and provide a wide resistance range of 0.010 Ω to 550 kΩ. Packaged in the very small TO-263, which measures a mere 10.1 mm by 10.4 mm with a low 4.5-mm profile, the resistors save valuable space on the circuit board, allowing designers to reduce the size of their end products.
The devices released today are intended for power supply, current sensing, power conversion, high-speed switching, RF applications, pulse generation, load resistor, snubber, pulse-handling circuit, and amplifier applications in end products including industrial welding machines, test equipment, UPS, locomotive, and base station systems.
Thermal resistance for the D2TO20 devices at 20 W and +25 °C is 6.5 °C/W junction-to-case. The resistors feature a standard temperature coefficient of ±150 ppm/°C at resistance values of ≥0.5 Ω, with standard tolerances of ±1 % to ±10 %.
Connections for the new resistors are tinned copper, and they are specified for operation over a 55 °C to +155 °C temperature range. The devices are RoHS-compliant, and support soldering temperatures at 260 °C.
Samples and production quantities of the D2TO20 thick film power resisters are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders.
