Vishay’s New ESD Single-Line Protection Diode is Industry’s First to Provide Low Capacitance of 1.5 pF in the New Leadless LLP1006 Package

Device Features Tiny 0.6-mm by 1.0-mm Footprint With Ultra-Low Profile of 0.38 mm For Board Space Savings

MALVERN, Pa. — Jan. 18, 2008 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced the release of the industry’s first ESD single-line protection diode to provide a low 1.5-pF capacitance in the new LLP1006 package.

With a compact 0.6-mm by 1.0-mm footprint and an extremely low profile of 0.38 mm, the VBUS051BD-HD1 is designed to save board space and provide ESD protection in portable electronics for mobile computing, mobile communication, consumer, industrial, and medical applications. Its new compact LLP package uses an environmentally friendly 'green' molding compound.

The new device features a low maximum leakage current of 0.1 µA at 5 V, and a maximum clamping voltage of 15 V at 3 A. Breakthrough voltage ratings for the VBUS051BD-HD1 are 8.7 V (maximum) and 7.9 V (typical) at 1 mA.

The VBUS051BD-HD1 provides transient protection for one data line as per IEC 61000 4 2 (ESD) at ±15 kV (contact discharge). In accordance with IEC 61000 4 5 (lightning), the device provides a peak pulse current of 3 A (tp = 8/20 µs). The diode is also compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.

Samples of the new ESD single-line protection diode in the compact LLP1006 package will be available in Q4 2007. Production quantities will be available in Q1 2008, with lead times of 10 weeks for large orders.
