Vishay's New WSH2818 5 W Surface-Mount Power Metal Strip Resistor Is First Such Device in Compact 2818 Package Size

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announces the release of a new 5 W Power Metal Strip® resistor that is the industry’s first such device to offer 5-W capability in the very small 2818 package size.

• Features a proprietary construction with improved thermal management to enable a 5-W power rating while maintaining the superior electrical performance of the Power Metal Strip construction
• Reduces manufacturing and placement costs by allowing for total solder-reflow board assembly and eliminating the need for secondary lead forming and trimming operations

Key Device Specifications:

• Power rating of 5 W
• Very low inductance of <5 nH
• Resistance values ranging from 1 mΩ to 100 mΩ
• Dimensions of .280 in. by .180 in. by .032 in. [7.1 mm by 4.6 mm by .813 mm]
• Operating temperature range of -65 °C to +170 °C
