The Key Applications:
- DC/DC converters, power/Li-Ion battery management systems, and VRMs
in computer and telecommunications systems
- Electronic controls, including driver information electronics,
engine, chassis, and climate controls in automotive systems
The News:
Vishay Releases Industry's First Surface-Mount Power Metal
Strip® Resistor to Offer High 0.20-W Power Rating in
Compact 0603 Package Size For Double The Power Capacity of the Standard
WSL0603-Type Resistor
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announces the industry's first
Power Metal Strip® resistor to feature a high 0.20-W power
rating in the compact 0603 package size.
- With a high-temperature capacity to +170 °C, the new resistor
provides resistance to extreme temperatures, as well as to thermal and
mechanical shock, moisture, and vibration
- All-welded construction features solderable terminations and a
resistive element of either solid metal nickel-chrome or a
manganese-copper alloy
- Provided in 8 mm tape-and-reel form
Key Device Specifications:
- 0.20-W power rating
- 0603 package size
- Resistance range of 0.01 Ω to 0.1 Ω
- Standard tolerances of ±0.5 % and ±1.0 %
- TCR of ±75 ppm/°C
- Thermal EMF of < 3 μV/°C
- Frequency response to 50 MHz
- Inductance range from 0.5 nH to 5 nH
- Temperature capacity to +170 °C
The Perspective:
Vishay's new WSL0603...18 is the industry's first 0.20-W surface-mount
Power Metal Strip® resistor in the compact 0603 package
size. By featuring the same high power ratings of larger devices, the
WSL0603...18 enables OEMs to use smaller PCBs, which in turn increases
manufacturing speed and reduces raw material costs, while meeting market
demand for more compact, higher-performing end products.
Availability:
Samples and production quantities of the WSL0603...18 resistor are
available now, with a lead time of four to six weeks for larger
orders.
