DRW122
Overview:
The DRW122
is a comprehensive development kit that was designed to aid in the low level
firmware application development for the RFW122 transceiver chipsets
in order to develop robust wireless products. The DRW122 is designed for microcontroller
firmware developers and RF engineers that are interested in a thorough evaluation
and fast development of Vishay RFWaves chipset based applications. Working from
the royalty free protocol software stack provided for a peer-to-peer or star
and other topology networks, developers can easily build customized communication
solutions.
By utilizing
the protocol support of the RFW-D100 link manager chip, application communication
development is simplified down to passing bytes of information no extensive
data stream management overhead is required. Therefore, an application running
on a cost effective 8-bit controller can be transparently supported by the sophisticated
communications protocol of the RFW-D100. And, by utilizing the RFW-D100 as the
interface between the MCU and the RFW122 RF modem, a developer can concentrate
on developing innovative application features without the burden of extensive
protocol development and processing overhead which delivers low cost, low power
and reduced development complexity.
The DRW122 development kit aims to enable the following:
Evaluation of the RFW122 transceiver
chipset.
Development of embedded communication
applications, with minimum RF
knowledge.
Reduction of R&D costs and time to
market.

Description:
The DRW122 provides
the full design platform for quick development of applications using the RFW122
and the RFW-D100. The development board allows the developer to hook an MCU
(or ICE) directly to the on-board socket to immediately start applications development
with no special hardware considerations. In fact, the basic application provided
enables a working communications example right out of the box. The DRW122 is
a PCB board designed around the RFW-D100 chip, the RFW122 transceiver chipset
antenna module and an 8051 MCU (or ICE).

Contents:
2 x Development boards
2 x RF modules with antenna
(complimentary)
4 x AAA batteries
2 x 8051 MCU (pre-programmed and
installed on the socket)
Development CD (includes datasheets,
documents, hardware and
software design source)
Reference Software Support:
The DRW122 comes with a MAC and protocol source code and examples which are
designed for general purpose applications.
Regulations Compliance:
The RFW122 Transceiver Chipset complies with the FCC and ETSI regulations.
