ERW3M

Overview:
Vishay RFWaves makes a continuous effort to support its customers. As part of this effort, our team offers extensive application notes, design documents and a very convenient to use evaluation kit, all enabling very simple product integration. The ERW3M is Vishay RFWaves new evaluation kit for its new transceiver modules, RFW3M and RFW3M-PA..

This is an easy-to-use evaluation environment for applications that will use the RFW3M or RFW3M-PA transceiver modules, together with the RFW-D100 interface chip. This evaluation kit also includes an 8051 PLCC44 in-circuit emulator socket and RS232 serial interface for PC to ERW3M communication.

Features
Power supply circuitry input of 2.2 V to 10 V and output of 3.3 V (for the RFW3M and the RFW3M-PA)
Battery or DC input power capability
Two 20-pin headers containing all RFW-D100 and MCU interface for prototype
     8031\51 PLCC44 in-circuit emulator socket
     128-bit Serial EEPROM
     High-frequency oscillator for RFW-D100 operation
RS232 line driver for PC ó board communication, including a 9-D-type connector
6-pin connector for the RFW3M module, two sets of 11 and 10 pins (21 pins total) for the RFW3M-PA.
6 user debug connectors containing all digital lines
4 user indicator LEDs reflecting system status
MCU reset switch and user-defined switch

     2 X Windbond MCU
     2 X Battery packs
     8 X AAA Batteries
     2 X RFW3M
     2 X RFW3M-PA
     4 X antennas
Evaluation CD (includes datasheets, documents and evaluation application)

Reference Software Support:

The ERW3M has three operation modes:

1) Working without PC interface: In this mode, the ERW3M can be used to demonstrate the range of the RFW3M or RFW3M-PA transceivers.
2) Working with a single PC: The receiving unit is connected to a PC, while the transmitting unit remains mobile. In this mode, the user can see the received data, and manipulate the receivers’ configuration. This in turn allows for a better estimation of the RF link quality and range.
3) Working with Two PCs: This mode allows the user to control the setting of both the receiving and transmitting units. By controlling parameters such as frequency channels, protocol addresses and type of transmission, the user can gain comprehensive understanding of the possibilities provided by RFW3M or RFW3M-PA transceivers.
