Precision weighing eliminates process variances to conserve high-value golf ball cover resin
|
Application Requirement
A high-value resin, used to produce impact-resistant and gouge-resistant golf ball covers, must be processed with "zero" variance from batch to batch.
Customer Concern
Existing process equipment generates product overuse with each batch. A system must be installed to eliminate the variance and save the money (thousands of dollars) associated with inefficient production.
Vishay Solution
Vishay BLH installed KIS Weigh Modules and DXp-40 Instrumentation, thereby virtually eliminating process variance from batch to batch. Double-cantilevered, cylindrical KIS Beams reject close to 100% of side load force components to provide a weight signal that reflects only true horizontal force.
DXp-40 weight transmitters use individual sigma-delta A/D converters to measure each load cell (module) separately. Providing an A/D converter for each cell, rather than averaging the sum of all cells, yields the highest accuracy weight signal possible. Monitoring the dynamic performance of each cell (module) also facilitates diagnostic shift, drift, and overload testing to ensure system integrity and stability.
Combining KIS Beam accuracy with DXp-40 extreme resolution virtually eliminated batch-processing variances, while producing significant daily savings.
