Tilting furnace measurement and level control at 800°C
|
Application Requirement
A tilting furnace processing molten aluminum must weigh accurately without signal degradation. Exact weight measurement is required to control level, electrical power requirements, and batch- out functions of the furnace.
Customer Concern
The weight signal cannot degenerate as the furnace expands and contracts at the required 700 °C to 800 °C operating temperature. Exact weight values also factor into an algorithm that controls power to the furnace.
Vishay Solution
Vishay Nobel installed KIMD-1 Load Cell Weigh Modules under the chassis of the tilting furnace. KIMD-1 Modules are designed to accommodate vessel sliding due to thermal expansion. Even as the vessel changes position upon the load cells, side load forces are rejected and measurement signal quality is retained.
In conjunction with a TAD 3 Weight Indicator, the resulting measurements efficiently control molten metal batch-out cycles and overall furnace power consumption.
