Vishay Nobel has extensive experience designing and manufacturing load cells and instrumentation for crane scales. Sometimes standard equipment is sufficient to meet customer requirements. In many cases, however, we provide customized solutions. Customized solutions involve several key parameters, including maximum hoist range, requested accuracy, operator needs, communication with the host system, etc.
The load cells can be placed up in the trolley or in the pulley wheels, or down in the hook. Generally, it is easier to achieve high accuracy if the load cells are placed close to the lifting point. If that is not possible, we offer solutions with wire weight compensation that will compensate for the variations in weight in different lift positions.
For crane scales up to 50 tons, we normally can use standard load cells. But for larger crane scales, we generally provide we customized solutions.
