New Miniaturized Inductors From Vishay Serve DC/DC Converters and Power Line Filtering Circuits
MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - November 5, 1999 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today announced that it is adding to its selection of inductors five new families of surface-mount, high-current components in the 1813, 2218, 3020, 3114, and 3722 packages.
With footprint diameters ranging from 4.5 mm to 9.5 mm and height profiles as low as 3.2 mm, the new inductors are ideal for notebook computers, cell phones, pagers, and other end products where space is at a premium. Typical applications will include buck and boost dc-dc conversion and power line filtering circuits.
Inductance ranges for the new products are 1 microhenry to 68 microhenrys for the IDCP-1813 series, 3.3 microhenrys to 220 microhenrys for the IDCP-2219 series, 10 microhenrys to 330 microhenrys for the IDCP-3114 series, 10 microhenrys to 470 microhenrys for the IDCP-3020 series, and 10 microhenrys to 820 microhenrys for the IDCP-3722 series. DC resistance is as low as 33 milliohms for 1-microhenry components in the 1813 package, with maximum current values as high as 3.8 A. Inductance tolerances are specified at ±20%, with ±10% additionally available for devices rated above 47 microhenrys.
"These new inductors give designers a new, readily available option for dc-to-dc converter circuits and represent yet another opportunity to complete designs with both passive and active components from a single supplier," said Mike Husman, Director of Product Marketing, Inductive and Thermistor Products.
Provided in tape-and-reel packaging for automatic handling, samples and production quantities of the new IDCP inductors are available now with lead times of six to eight weeks for larger orders.
