Vishay Releases Industry's Highest Capacitance, Lowest ESR Tantalum Capacitor in Surface-Mount, 2 mm High Case
MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - October 19, 2000 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc.(NYSE: VSH) today announced that it is expanding its 592D capacitor family with new devices offering the industry's highest capacitance and lowest equivalent series resistance in a surface-mount, low-profile case measuring just 2 mm high.
Designed for high capacitance decoupling applications in PCMCIA cards, wireless phones, and other slim-line end products, the new conformal coated Vishay Sprague 592D-2mm will allow designers of large-capacitance applications to replace several molded chips with a single device. Capacitance range for the 592D-2mm is 33 μF to 680 μF, with standard tolerances of ±10% or ±20%. Maximum ESR ranges between 0.10 Ω and 0.45 Ω at +25°C and 100 kHz. Working voltage options range from 4 WVDC to 10 WVDC, with maximum leakage currents from 3.3 μA and 33 μA. The maximum dissipation factor for the chip ranges from 6% to 12% at +25°C and 120 Hz.
With its low 2-mm height profile, the 592D-2mm is offered in four case sizes with dimensions ranging from 0.116 in. x 0.158 in. (2.8 mm x 4.0 mm) to 0.235 in. x 0.285 in. (6.0 mm x 7.2 mm), and is footprint-compatible with molded chips conforming to EIA 535BAAC and CECC 30801.

Samples and production quantities of the 592D 2mm are available now, with standard tantalum capacitor lead times for larger orders. Production quantities, packaged in reel and tape form for high-speed assembly, will be available Q4 2000 or Q1 2001.
