CARTS-Europe 2000 highlighted the rapid evolution of resistors, capacitors, magnetics, and other electronic "building blocks"used in virtually all products containing electronic circuits, from cell phones to computers to cars to medical equipment tosatellites. It brought together companies that design, manufacture, and market passive electronic components, as well as majororiginal-equipment manufacturers such as Agilent Technologies, Alcatel, DaimlerChrysler, Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia, Nortel, and Panasonic.
The event included a market overview by Dennis Zogbi of the Paumanok Group, a forum on trends and new technologies, and symposium papers from a wide range of technical experts. Participation by Vishay included two seminars, six papers, and thekeynote address, presented by Glyndwr Smith, Assistant to the CEO and Senior Vice President. Vishay papers focused onpassive-component testing and use in the telecommunications, computer, automotive, and other industries. CARTS-Europe 2000 wascapped by a presentation on Vishay's Z201 ultra-precision foil resistor, which features a ten-fold improvement over standardfoil resistors in temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR), a key measurement of resistor performance. Vishay Presentations at CARTS-Europe 2000 Keynote Speech: "Resistors, Capacitors, andMagnetics: A Renaissance" Seminars by Vishay Engineers: "Component Trends in the AutomotiveMarket" "Trends and New Technology inTelecommunications" Symposium Papers by Vishay Engineers: "Foil Resistors Used as Low EnergyElectro-pyrotechnic Initiators" "Zero TCR Foil Resistor: Ten-FoldImprovement in Temperature Coefficient" "An Update on Capacitors forPortable Electronics" "Choosing Capacitors for ReliableAutomotive Application" "Reliable In-Circuit Testing ofPassives" "Qualification Testing on Ceramic ChipCapacitors for the Automotive Industry"
