New Vishay Thermistors Deliver Stable, Accurate Performance for Temperature Compensation Applications
MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA-January 3, 2001-A new series of linear positive temperature coefficient thermistors offering an approximate 25% improvement in accuracy compared with previous-generation components has been announced by Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. Offered in three internationally recognized surface-mount case sizes, the new Vishay Dale TFPT thermistors are the first devices of their kind to provide a lot temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of up to 5000 ppm.
The TFPT series provides highly accurate and stable performance for temperature compensation, control, and measurement in printers, cell phones, pagers, computers, and other information appliances. Its improved tracking accuracy compared with previous-generation products reduces circuit drift in end products, especially at the extremes of operating temperature ranges, and allows designers to obtain precise performance with fewer components. Linear TCR performance further simplifies circuit designs.
TFPT thermistors are offered in 0603, 0805, and 1206 surface-mount cases. Resistance values range from 100 Ω to 1 kΩ for the TFPT0603, to 5 kΩ for the TFPT0805, and to 10 kΩ for the TFPT1206. Standard tolerance options of 1%, 5%, and 10% are available.
The high TCR of the TFPT thermistors makes device resistance very sensitive to temperature change. They are thus ideally suited for temperature compensation applications or for any system that needs to be turned on or off once it reaches a certain temperature.
Supplied in tape and reel form for high speed assembly, samples of the TFPT thermistors are available now. Production quantities are available with lead times of 8 to 10 weeks for larger orders.
