BCcomponents launches SMD electrolytic capacitor with low ESR and high ripple current capabilities
April 12, 2001 — In response to the growing demand for SMD-only boards, BCcomponents, one of the world's largest suppliers of passive components, has launched an SMD version of its popular 150 RMI radial leaded electrolytic capacitor, the 150 CLZ.
The 150 CLZ has very low impedance or ESR, resulting in excellent filtering or smoothing of voltages in power supplies, where small size and high ripple current capabilities are required: e.g. max. 2,7 A rms at 60 °C. The 150 CLZ has a lifetime of over 6 years at 60 °C and rated ripple current. Examples of suitable applications include SMPSs in telecommunications (e.g. base stations or public switching), aerospace navigation and automotive.
The 150 CLZ also contributes to reduced production costs. As an SMD product, it requires fewer board assembly process steps compared to the equivalent through-hole product. Its high performance in a small case size also means that costs can be reduced by using fewer or smaller capacitors.
BCcomponents' latest electrolytic capacitor has a short lead time of just 6 weeks. Samples can be supplied within 3 - 20 days. Design-in support and customised product development is also available.
