Enhanced Vishay Web Tool Provide Access to Wide Range of Product Data
MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - November 30, 2001 - The Web site of Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) is designed to provide quick and easy access to product information. Product engineers, purchasing agents, and all other visitors to the site - www.vishay.com - can take advantage of a parametric search system offering customized searches for Vishay products. It lets users choose and combine search categories (technology, case size, voltage, resistance, etc.); define ranges within those categories; activate the search with a mouse click; and obtain results immediately. The system then identifies all Vishay components that meet the specified parameters.
Vishay's parametric search system has been enhanced to include a wider range of products, over 160 new parametric selectors, and usability improvements. What this means for the user is increased access to the Vishay product database. The search system, which Vishay plans to expand further, currently includes discrete semiconductors, power MOSFETs, and surface-mount passive components. It covers all Vishay products except analog switches, connectors, power ICs, small signal FETs, and leaded passive components.
"As manufacturer of the world's broadest line of discrete semiconductorsand passive components, Vishay is committed to letting customers leverage our extensive product database," said Dr. Felix Zandman, Chairman and CEOof Vishay. "We want to make it as easy as possible for design engineers, sales personnel, purchasing agents, and other individuals to find Vishay product information that meets their needs. This, in turn, enhances their ability to produce end-products ranging from consumer goods such as cellphones and computer play stations to automobiles to sophisticated military and aerospace equipment."
Vishay's parametric search system will work with Internet Explorer, versions 4.x - 6.x(Windows) and 5.x (Mac), and with Netscape, version 4.x (Windows) and 6.1+(Windows, Mac).
During October 2001, the latest month for which figures are available, the Vishay Web site receivaed over 7 million hits, compared to slightly less than 6.3 million hits during October 2000. Approximately 59,000 users visit the Vishay Web site each day, compared to fewer than 48,000 during October 2000. In addition, the average visitor session length is 10 minutes and 12 seconds, indicating that users are taking advantage of the breadth and depth of product information available on the Vishay Web site.
