New Solid Tantalum Chip Capacitors Offer Industry-High Volumetric Efficiency and Choice of Eight Standard Case Sizes
MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - March 20, 2002 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced the release of the CC and EC families of low-profile, conformal-coated solid tantalum chip capacitors. Available in eight standard case sizes, the new devices offer industry-best volumetric efficiency for energy storage, filtering, and bypass applications in medical, military, and aerospace electronic systems.
The new CC/EC devices feature high volumetric efficiency of up to 200,000 CV per cubic inch, 100% low-impedance power burn-in at +85°C, and low equivalent series resistance (ESR) values for high-frequency applications, providing high reliability and superior electrical parameters in a wide range of compact case sizes.
The capacitors offer case dimensions as small as 2.54 mm by 1.27 mm (0.10 in. by 0.050 in.), with a low height profile of just 1.27 mm (0.050 in.), and are pad-compatible with MIL-PRF-55365/4 (CWR06 and CWR09).
Working voltage options range from 4 WVDC up to 50 WVDC, with standard capacitance tolerance options of ±5%, ±10%, and ±20%. ESR values range from 20 down to 0.5 at 100 kHz.
CC/EC capacitors are rated for operation from -55°C to +85°C, and up to +125°C with voltage derating.
Offered in 50-unit "Blister-Pack" trays or in 8-mm or 12-mm tape-and-reel packaging, CC/EC capacitors are available with gold-plated or solder-dipped terminations. Type CC/EC capacitors, the commercial equivalents of 49BC/EC capacitors, are suitable for use with ICs, diodes, resistors, and inductors from Vishay.
Samples of the new CC/EC solid tantalum chip capacitors in limited values are available now, limited production availablesecond quarter 2002.
