Vishay’s New BiAs Single-Line ESD Protection Diode Features Low Profile of 0.4 mm, Low Typical Capacitance of <8 pF, and Low Maximum Leakage Current of <0.1 μA
SOD923 Package Provides Board Space Savings
MALVERN, Pa. — May 18, 2007 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced the release of a new bidirectional asymmetrical (BiAs) single-line ESD protection diode that offers an extremely low capacitance in the very small SOD923 package.
With a compact 0.6-mm by 1.0-mm footprint and an extremely low profile of 0.4 mm, the VCUT0714A-02Z is designed to reduce the board space required for ESD protection in portable electronics for mobile computing, mobile communication, consumer, industrial, automotive, and medical applications.
The new device features a low typical capacitance of <8 pF at 0 V and a low maximum leakage current of <0.1 μA. The ESD protection diode offers working ranges from –7 V up to +14 V, or –14 V up to +7 V.
The VCUT0714A-02Z provides transient protection for one data line as per IEC 61000 4 2 (ESD) at 30 kV (air and contact discharge) and IEC 61000 4 5 (lightning) from 4.5 A (tp = 8/20μs). It is also compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.
Samples of the new single-line ESD protection diode in the compact SOD923 are available in now. Production quantities will be available in Q2 2007, with lead times of 10 to 12 weeks for large orders.
