Vishay Releases Multi-SMD Tri-Color LED with Separate Control for Red, Green, and Blue LED Chips in Compact 3.2-mm by 2.8-mm PLCC-4 Package
New High-Brightness VLMRGB343.. Offers Luminous Intensity Range Up to 285 mcd for Red, 560 mcd for Green, and 200 mcd for Blue
MALVERN, Pa. — November 9, 2007 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today released a new multi-SMD tri-color LED with a wide luminous intensity range and independent color control.
The VLMRGB343.. multi-SMD tri-color LED is a high-brightness device that offers separate control of the red, green, and blue LED chips for demanding high-efficiency applications. Featuring a black surface and compatibility for all video standards, the device comes in a PLCC-4 package with a compact 3.2-mm by 2.8-mm footprint and a low 1.8-mm profile for board space savings.
The new LED is optimized for backlighting and illumination in automotive and transport, consumer, and general applications. Typical uses will include instrument panels and courtesy lighting; interior aviation and perimeter lighting; signage and graphics; household appliances, toys, games, and cell phones; architectural and interior lighting; lighting for retail and window displays, museums, and showrooms; and machine vision.
The VLMRGB343.. offers a 60° half-intensity angle and is compatible with IR-reflow solder processes. The device is preconditioned according to JEDEC moisture sensitivity Level 2 standards, and is RoHS-compliant. The LED is automotive qualified AEC-Q101 and complies with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.
