Vishay’s New WSMS5515 Power Metal Strip® Meter Shunt Resistor Offers 3-W Power Capability With Low Resistance Values of 500 µΩ to 100 µΩ
Device Offers Low Inductance of <5 nH and Low Thermal EMF of <3 µV/°C
MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA — Jan. 23, 2008 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced a new Power Metal Strip® meter shunt resistor that offers 3-W power capability in the 5515 size package, with extremely low resistance values down to 100 µΩ.
The WSMS5515 meter shunt resistor features a proprietary processing technique that produces very low resistance values from 100 µΩ to 500 µΩ, which provide increased accuracy in current meter shunt applications for industrial and residential electronic power meters.
The new resistor increases accuracy to help designers meet specific customer requirements and thus provide end users with more accurate metering of electric usage.
Featuring a 4-terminal (Kelvin) connection design, the WSMS5515 features all-welded construction and a high power-to-resistor size ratio. The resistor offers low inductance values of <5 nH, a low thermal EMF of <3 µV/°C, and an excellent frequency response to 50 MHz. The device is lead (Pb)-free and RoHS-compliant.
Samples and production quantities of the new meter shunt resistor are available now, with a lead time of six to eight weeks for larger orders.
