Vishay Releases New AEC-Q101-Qualified PIN Photodiode With Enhanced UV Sensitivity, Spectral Bandwidth of 350 nm to 1100 nm, Fast 40-ns Rise and Fall Times, and Wide ±65° Angle of Half Sensitivity
MALVERN, Pa. — April 08, 2009 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) continues to broaden its optoelectronics portfolio with the introduction of a new high-speed photo detector. The TEMD5080X01 is a PIN photodiode with 300 % higher ultraviolet (UV) sensitivity at 400 nm compared to standard PIN photodiode chip technology, which allows it to be used in a wide range of industrial and consumer systems.
The TEMD5080X01’s overall spectral sensitivity range of 350 nm to 1100 nm includes UV radiation, visible light, and near-infrared radiation. The device is optimized for use in industrial and medical applications such as smoke and flame detectors, UV and visible spectrophotometers, and dermatological treatment and blood analysis equipment. The PIN photodiode is qualified according to the AEC-Q101 automotive standard.
The high-speed device offers a fast 40-ns rise and fall time, peak sensitivity at 940 nm, and a wide angle of half sensitivity of ±65°. The TEMD5080X01’s top-view, surface-mount package measures 4.24 mm x 5.0 mm with a low profile of 1.12 mm. The PIN photodiode features a large radiant-sensitive area measuring 7.7 mm2.
The lead (Pb)-free device supports lead-free processing in accordance with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC, and is compatible with lead-free reflow solder assembly. The TEMD5080X01 offers a floor life of 72 hours in accordance with J-STD-020.
Samples of the new PIN photodiode are available now. Production quantities will be available in Q2 2009, with lead times of four weeks for larger orders.
