Vishay Intertechnology Captures Three Spots on EDN Magazine’s List of Hot 100 Products for 2012
MALVERN, Pa. — Dec. 3, 2012 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced that three of its products were featured in EDN magazine’s prestigious list of Hot 100 Products for 2012, which highlights the electronics industry’s most significant products of the year based on innovation, significance, usefulness, and popularity. Vishay’s VLMx1500-GS08 series of ultra-bright LEDs and VSMY7852X01 and VSMY7850X01 infrared (IR) emitters were included in the Optoelectronics and Lighting Control category, while the Vishay Draloric VSGR power resistor was featured in the Components category.
Optoelectronics and Lighting − VLMx1500-GS08
Vishay’s VLMx1500-GS08 series of super red, soft orange, yellow, yellow green, blue, and white ultra-bright LEDs feature a tiny surface-mount 0402 ChipLED package. Measuring just 1.0 mm x 0.6 mm with an ultra-thin 0.36 mm profile, the VLMx1500-GS08 series provides exceptional brightness with a luminous intensity to 180 mcd. The products are designed for indicator and backlighting for audio and video equipment, office equipment, LCDs, switches, symbols, interior and exterior lighting, and indoor and outdoor message boards.

Optoelectronics and Lighting − VSMY7852X01 and VSMY7850X01
Built on Vishay’s SurfLight surface emitter technology, the VSMY7852X01 and VSMY7850X01 850 nm IR emitters are offered in the high-power Little Star® package with a 6.0 x 7.0 x 1.5 mm footprint. The VSMY7850X01 emitter is designed for high drive currents up to 1 A, and offers high radiant intensity of 170 mW/sr and optical power of 520 mW. The VSMY7852X01 combines drive currents up to 250 mA with intensity of 42 mW/sr and optical power of 130 mW. The devices are optimized for IR illumination in CMOS cameras, driver assistance systems, 3D TV and 3D imaging, night vision, and IR flash applications.

Components − VSGR
Vishay Draloric’s VSGR is a stainless steel power resistor with high power capability up to 20 kW (higher values on demand) at 40°C and a high operating temperature range of − 25 °C to + 250 °C for applications in extreme environments. The VSGR provides IP00 to IP23 protection and is designed as a converter and brake resistor in windmill, solar, diesel generator, turbine, and railway applications. The device features a resistance range from 0.1 Ω to 75 Ω (with other values available on request), resistance tolerance of ± 5 % and ± 10 %, and a temperature coefficient (TCR) of 250 ppm/K.
