IRED-Based Proximity Sensor Current Calculator

Vishay’s proximity sensors offer up to 16-bit resolution which allows presence detection up to 30cm. Low current consumption can be achieved by using active force mode and turning off the sensor between the measurements. This current estimator helps to calculate how much current will be consumed based on the selected parameters. After the user selects the sensor name, parameters and measurement period (only active force mode), the calculator will display the current consumption in both µA and mA. The image on the right is provided to explain the definition of the parameters.
